SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture)
SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) is an open technical reference architecture and standard that transitions embedded sensor systems into a modular, interoperable framework. Managed by The Open Group, the standard defines strict, unified hardware, software, and electromechanical interfaces. The primary objective of SOSA is to minimize lifetime acquisition costs, eliminate vendor lock-in, and facilitate the rapid insertion of new technology across defense and commercial sensor platforms—such as radar, electronic warfare (EW), and signals intelligence (SIGINT) architectures.
