Establishing and sustaining superiority in the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) has become a decisive prerequisite for both national and collective European security. Recent developments — including evolving electromagnetic tactics in the Russo-Ukrainian War and ongoing hybrid activities directed at European nations — have underscored the urgency of this challenge.

AOC Europe 2026 will explore current trends in Nordic and wider European operational concepts, doctrinal adaptation, and capability development within an increasingly contested geopolitical and electromagnetic environment.

The rapid proliferation of unmanned systems, the systematic denial of PNT/GNSS services, and the growing integration of networked electronic warfare capabilities are reshaping the battlespace. These dynamics pose significant challenges for allied and NATO forces across Europe.

The central question remains: Can Europe innovate at the speed and scale required to secure and maintain control of the electromagnetic spectrum in this demanding era?

The PLATH Intelligence Day, which kicks off the event, will take place on 19 May this year. The focus will be on the topic of ‘Closing the Gap – Meshed Unmanned EW Core’, which will be discussed and explored in depth in two thematic sessions featuring several specialist presentations:
