70 years of innovation in radio reconnaissance

PLATH in radio reconnaissance, communications intelligence (COMINT), electronic reconnaissance and EW.

Did you know that PLATH can look back on more than 70 years of experience in the development of innovative solutions for radio and communications intelligence? Since the engineer Maximilian Wächtler founded the company in 1954, PLATH has repeatedly achieved technological breakthroughs that have made PLATH the leading provider in the COMINT, ELINT and EW sectors.

A first milestone in PLATH's technological development was the SFP500 radio direction finder, which became standard equipment on almost every merchant ship in the 1950s and revolutionized radio reconnaissance through faster and more precise signal processing. In addition to its role as a developer of technology for radio reconnaissance, PLATH also plays an important role in maritime technology. The ICAS software, which is not only used for maritime reconnaissance, not only generates fast signal processing, which is crucial for early crisis detection, but also makes an important contribution to situational awareness. The solutions are also indispensable in aviation and in the monitoring of communication networks, such as in the implementation of UART interfaces. Since safety is ensured by correct decisions and correct decisions are made based on the type, scope and interpretation of information, this is precisely where PLATH comes in.

The development of the world's first broadband direction finder was also a significant milestone. The DFP5300, launched in 1990, revolutionized radio intelligence with faster and more precise signal processing capabilities. The development of advanced RF spectrum monitoring technologies has made our solutions even more powerful.

Today, the PLATH Group comprises five specialized business units that operate internationally. With offices in four countries, PLATH develops solutions that are used worldwide in the SIGINT and EW industries. The systems offer comprehensive support in the areas of signal processing, monitoring of large frequency ranges and early crisis detection.  PLATH offers platform-independent solutions for land, air and sea, both fixed and mobile.

Use of PLATH systems to improve early crisis detection

In order to collect data for early crisis detection, PLATH sends sensors with manned and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into the air over “areas of interest” to contribute to preventive early crisis detection with the data collected. The following video outlines a use case of how the AI-based SDI Core system can lead to better reconnaissance results in joint ground-to-air operations with UAVs.

The ICAS software contributes to safety and efficiency worldwide. The name ICAS, short for Intelligence Control and Analysis System, is a manufacturer-independent platform that offers all functions from the integration of a wide range of sensors and signal analysis components to their control, analysis and result export to cross-domain systems.

PLATH at international trade fairs for COMINT, ELINT, SIGINT and EW

PLATH also presents its latest developments and systems at international trade fairs and conferences.  Technologies for the COMINT, ELINT, i.e. SIGINT, and EW areas naturally take up the most space alongside peripheral topics such as ESR, EMC measurement technology and UART interfaces. This year, PLATH has already been present at over 20 events worldwide, including major trade fairs for reconnaissance, such as AOC Europe, which took place in Oslo this year.

PLATH's innovative strength is supported by a strong team. What began in 1954 with just 14 employees has now grown into a globally active company with over 600 highly qualified employees. The success is based on the expertise of the team, which works passionately on the development of new solutions.

70 years of tradition and innovation in radio reconnaissance at PLATH

PLATH stands for a long tradition and continuous progress in radio intelligence and is today one of the leading providers of integrated systems for data-based early crisis detection. PLATH is an independent system integrator for EW with an innovative portfolio that covers the entire reconnaissance cycle. The focus is on information superiority - on land, at sea, in the air or in cyberspace. Because the decisive factor for the success of a mission is real-time information that helps to create a valid situational picture in order to gain the upper hand in the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) - to protect personnel, platforms and sensors. We use our 70 years of industry experience to continue to support our customers in fulfilling their security mission.

PLATH - to protect and prevent
For 70 years.
