Two beach chairs for the ASB in Wilhelmsburg
PLATH Social Day led to ASB in Wilhelmsburg
Once again this year, PLATH is supporting a charitable purpose as part of its “Social Day” and setting an example for community and social commitment. This time, the Social Day took the form of a work assignment at the ASB (Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund) in Hamburg.
The ASB emergency acomodation on Karl-Arnold-Ring in Kirchdorf-Süd is a modern trailer park with space for 50 families. Since the beginning of the year, work has been carried out here together with the public law institution “Fördern & Wohnen” to accommodate and care for people seeking protection. New arrivals are registered at the arrival center in Rahlstedt and then placed in emergency accommodation.
The PLATH team was warmly welcomed by Sonja and Franka, social workers for refugees, and had the opportunity to explore the site and the accommodation containers. It was inspiring to see how much passion the ASB team puts into helping the refugees.
The aim of this day at ASB was to build two beach chairs out of Euro pallets to make the area more inviting and create a place for people to sit and chat. Some refugee families also came along to help with the work. At the end of the day, there were two colorful beach chairs, which are now available for use in the outdoor area of the ASB accommodation.
