Review of the 14th PLATH Intelligence Day
Setting the course for the future of intelligence

The 14th PLATH Intelligence Day, held on May 6, 2025, in Rome, once again affirmed its role as a premier prelude to AOC Europe and as a pivotal event for experts in electronic warfare, signal intelligence, and security technology. With a record-breaking attendance of more than 750 participants from 45 different countries worldwide from government, defense, academia, and industry, the event marked a new high point in its history—underscoring its growing relevance in today’s complex and evolving security landscape.
This year’s edition was themed around two central focus areas: Multi-Domain Autonomous Intelligence and Real-Time Intelligence, Data Fusion and Adaptation. These topics are not only timely but critical, as modern conflict zones continue to highlight the need for rapid, AI-enhanced situational awareness and integrated systems capable of operating seamlessly across domains.

After the Intelligence Day was opened by Nico Scharfe, Managing Partner PLATH Corporation the keynote “Securing Europe’s Defense: Importance of Innovations for future Multi-Domain Intelligence Operations” was held by Admiral Berna and gave very interesting insights. The first session, around the topic “Multi-Domain Autonomous Intelligence,” showcased the transition from unmanned to autonomous systems in various practical examples and explaining that it´s more than a technological upgrade; it's a paradigm shift.
Presentations explored how AI and machine learning are enabling systems to analyze environments and enable making mission-critical decisions autonomously. By integrating diverse unmanned platforms—ground, aerial, maritime—PLATH is contributing to a new operational reality in which decision-making cycles are drastically shortened, and human-machine teaming becomes more efficient and adaptive.

After Dr. Schwolen-Backes of PLATH introduced with a topic overview showing “Changing Demands on (f)using Intelligence and Electronic Support in Multi Domain Operations” Jonas Pedersen, CEO of Tuco Group ApS than gave detailed insights how USV Technology can be used for Monitoring Critical Infrastructure while Major General (ITAF) Enrico Pederzolli spoke about the Demands and the future of SIGINT from the perspective of the Italian Defense J.I.C.
One more presentation gave deep insights, Real-time Agile Multi-Sensor & EW in EMO, before session 1 was wrapped up with a highly interesting summary of current NATO developments and strengthening of the European Armed Forces.
Of particular interest was the emphasis on scalability and interoperability. Rather than advocating for isolated high-tech solutions, PLATH´s Dr. Andreas Schwolen underscored the importance of legacy system integration and the ability to network various platforms into coherent operational frameworks. In real terms, this means more resilient missions with minimized risk and faster, smarter responses on the battlefield. A panel discussion with all speaker gave room for all open question before lunch and networking.

The second session delved into “Real-Time Intelligence, Data Fusion and Adaptation,” further underlining the necessity of processing vast streams of data at speed and with precision. As sensors and effectors proliferate across multiple domains, the challenge is not data collection, but data synthesis and interpretation. The first speaker to go deeper into this was Erik Herlyn, CFO of Xer Technologies AG talking about “From signal to intelligence: Acquiring actionable data using a versatile UAV”. Directly afterwards no less than three speakers from IBM, MBDA and PLATH illuminated “Multidomain Intelligence Operations” in detail.
After the insights given by Cesare Del Vecchio of IPS S.P.A. and Antoine Vignol of INNOSYSTEC talking about “AI-driven Intelligence in SOCMINT and SIGINT to Data Fusion, Analysis and Knowledge Management for real time Intelligence the session 2 was rounded off by the valuable details given by Dr. Frank Langmann of Hensoldt about “Multi-platform data fusion – the key capability to Multi-Domain Operations
Also this second part of the PLATH Intelligence Day was then also wrapped up with a panel discussion involving all speaker before PLATH`s CEO Gregor Zowierucha spoke some closing words and invited to networking at the fair ground of AOC Europe – now open.

What distinguished the event was not only the technical depth of the presentations but also the collaborative spirit. The layout and agenda allowed ample time for networking, enabling participants to engage in meaningful dialogue, share operational insights, and explore future partnerships. The Intelligence Day continues to strike a well-calibrated balance between formal knowledge exchange and informal professional interaction.
In conclusion, the 14th PLATH Intelligence Day successfully captured the pressing themes of modern intelligence and defense technology. It didn’t just showcase innovation—it framed a vision. From enabling smarter unmanned missions to enhancing real-time data exploitation, PLATH is actively shaping the next chapter in electronic intelligence. The event set the tone for AOC Europe and will maybe even influence how governments and industry approach autonomous systems and data-driven operations in the years ahead.
